The examples provided look at:
1. Numeracy ESOL and the WOA (powerpoint presentation)
2. Mapping numeracy to ESOL using the contexts of ‘Recycling household waste’ and ‘UK voting’ (word document).

Pathway to Discovery - Casestudy

"Pathway to Discovery was born from a realisation of the need for individuals living through personal difficulties as a result of a personality disorder to share their experiences."

A book containing their thoughts, art and poetry was created. (Literacy & numeracy support was embedded into the process of creating this book with the support of the LSIS SfL Support Programme.)

Chicken Feed Web Quest - Resources 24/05/2010
PALS (Nottinghamshire Probation Service and Dyslexia Action)
share a Quick Reads inspired resource.

”The ‘Chickenfeed’ web quest has been designed to be used by adult literacy learners, who voted the book as their favourite from the Quick Reads’ series.” The web quest provides a range of activities and can be used for literacy levels Entry 3 up to Level 2. Employability Resources - Embedded Schemes of Work & Skills Scan 21/05/2010

1. Generic schemes of work for Literacy and Numeracy, which reference resources available on various websites that can be used to identify good activities to support progression.
2. A Skills Scan, which highlights key employability skills and the associated literacy and numeracy skills. Can be used to inform and ILP.

A Guide to supporting Skills for Life and Functional Skills using a Virtual Learning Environment 20/05/2010
Leicester College
share their guide to supporting SfL and Functional Skills using moodle. They have set up a VLE accessible 24 hours a day from any location. It is available to all their staff and learners regardless of subject. It offers support with developing English, ESOL, Maths and ICT skills.
