East Midlands Skills for Life Conference 2009
The East Midlands Skills for Life Conference 2009 will be held at Eastwood Hall in Nottinghamshire on Friday 13th March, 2009 - 9.30am to 4.00pm.
This conference aims to provide all those engaged with the Literacy, Language and Numeracy (LLN) curriculum - Practitioners, Curriculum Managers, Team Leaders and Teacher Trainers in the East Midlands - with an opportunity to think about the issues around why barriers to numeracy, or maths learning, develop and discover ways to widen participation – not just within numeracy provision but across a variety of contexts.
This Conference will be of interest to all those working in Literacy, ESOL, Numeracy, Family Learning, Train to Gain, E2E, across all of the adult learning sector including:- Voluntary Sector, Adult Community Learning, Workbased Learning, FE and Offender Learning.
The Conference will focus on:
- Skills for Life policy changes and future direction
- How barriers to numeracy develop and how to overcome them
- Promoting good practice in numeracy teaching within a variety of contexts
The conference will be chaired by:
Lisa Armitage, Skills Development Manager – Skills for Life for the East Midlands LSC.
Keynote speakers will be:
Jane Peacock, Skills Development Director - Strategy for the East Midlands LSC and
Norma Honey, Assistant Director - FE, National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics.
